Gas Hob Installation in Stoke-on-Trent

Replacing a hob or fitting one into a new worktop? We install and connect gas hobs, check clearances and ventilation, and leak-test the connection.

What installation involves

A hob sits close to worktop edges, cupboards, extractors and sometimes an oven below — so clearances and ventilation matter as much as the gas connection itself.

We:

  • Isolate and disconnect the old hob safely
  • Check the new hob suits the gas supply and the cut-out
  • Check manufacturer clearances to walls, cupboards and extractors
  • Connect and leak-test the supply
  • Commission the appliance and check the burners and controls

Replacement versus new installation

A like-for-like replacement is usually straightforward. A new installation into a different worktop is a different job: the cut-out, clearances and position of the gas supply all need to work together.

We do not cut worktops. If the opening needs altering, that has to be done before we arrive — otherwise we cannot complete the connection on the day. Give us the hob’s dimensions and a photo of the current setup when you enquire and we can tell you what is needed.

What we check before connecting

  • The hob is suitable for the gas type supplied
  • Minimum clearances from walls, cupboards and any extractor above
  • Ventilation and room volume where relevant
  • The condition of the connection and whether a new hose or seal is needed
  • That the appliance is stable and correctly seated in the cut-out

If something does not meet the manufacturer’s instructions, we will explain it rather than connect an appliance that cannot be used safely.

After installation

We leak-test the connection, check the burners light and run correctly, and show you the controls. If the old hob is being removed, it is disconnected safely as part of the visit.

Booking

Call, WhatsApp with the make and model and a photo of the worktop, or use the quote form with your postcode. Quotes are free and we supply the materials. For freestanding cookers, see gas cooker installation.

Frequently asked questions

Can you fit a hob into a new worktop?

We can install and connect the hob, but we do not cut or alter worktops. If the cut-out needs changing, that needs to be done before we arrive — tell us the hob's dimensions when you enquire.

Do you fit customer-supplied hobs?

Yes. Send the make and model before booking so we can check the gas type, dimensions and clearances.

Why do clearances matter?

A hob too close to a wall, cupboard or extractor can scorch surfaces or affect combustion. Manufacturer instructions specify minimum clearances, and we check against them.

Do you disconnect the old hob?

Yes. The old appliance is isolated and disconnected safely as part of the job.

Can you fit a hob above an oven?

Often, if the oven and housing are suitable and the manufacturer's clearances allow it. Tell us what is there now and we will check before booking.
