Boiler Repair in Stoke-on-Trent
No heating, no hot water, or a boiler that keeps locking out? We diagnose and repair boiler faults across Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding towns. Here is what to check safely before calling, and what happens when we visit.
Common boiler problems we fix
SureFlow attends breakdowns including no heating or hot water, boilers that will not fire, intermittent lockouts and fault codes, pressure loss, leaks, kettling or banging noises, and thermostat or control faults. Diagnosis starts with the symptoms, the fault history and what the display shows, so having the make, model and any fault code ready speeds things up.
What to check safely before calling
There are a few safe checks anyone can make: thermostat settings and batteries, programmer schedules, the boiler pressure gauge (usually 1–1.5 bar when cold), the electrical supply and fuses, and whether other gas appliances are working. Note anything unusual, such as new noises, smells, or water under the boiler, and pass it on when you call.
Never remove the boiler casing, adjust gas pipework, or keep resetting a boiler that locks out repeatedly. Repeated resets can mask a fault that needs proper diagnosis.
Gas safety first
If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide (headaches, nausea, a yellow lazy pilot flame, or a CO alarm sounding), or find a visibly damaged flue, treat it as an emergency: get everyone out of the property, avoid switches and flames, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 from outside. Only contact SureFlow afterwards, once the property has been made safe.
How a repair visit works
- Contact — call or WhatsApp with your postcode, boiler make and model, and symptoms.
- Diagnosis — testing of the reported fault and related components.
- Plain-English options — repair, part replacement, or, for older failing boilers, honest advice on whether replacement is more sensible.
- Repair and test — parts fitted where agreed, then the system is tested and the controls explained.
Pricing is confirmed before work proceeds wherever the fault allows it. Intermittent faults are quoted after diagnosis.
Frequently asked questions
My boiler has no heating or hot water — what should I check first?
Check the thermostat is calling for heat, look at the boiler display for a fault code or low pressure reading, and confirm the power supply and programmer are on. Do not remove any covers or touch gas pipework. If in doubt, call or WhatsApp with the fault code and a photo of the display.
My boiler keeps losing pressure. Is that urgent?
Gradual pressure loss is common and is often linked to small system leaks, a faulty expansion vessel or a dripping pressure relief pipe outside. Topping up via the filling loop is sometimes appropriate — see our pressure guide — but repeated loss needs an engineer visit.
My boiler is leaking water. What should I do?
Turn the boiler off, contain the water with towels, and stay clear of any electrics nearby. Note where the water is coming from and call promptly. Do not attempt to open the boiler casing.
What should I do if I smell gas?
Do not wait for us. Turn off the gas at the meter if it is safe to do so, open windows, avoid switches and naked flames, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately. Contact us once the property is safe.
How quickly can you attend a breakdown?
Attendance depends on the diary and how urgent the fault is. Loss of heating in winter with vulnerable occupants is prioritised. Call or WhatsApp with your postcode and symptoms for the earliest available slot.
