A shower’s performance depends on the supply arrangement and the shower itself. Identify whether you have a mixer, pumped or electric shower before discussing a repair or replacement.
Temperature and flow symptoms
Explain whether the water runs cold, changes temperature or has reduced flow. Say whether other hot taps are affected and whether the problem occurs when another outlet is used. A photograph of the controls and product name helps establish which manufacturer information may be needed.
Replacement compatibility
Not every shower suits every supply. Minimum pressure, balanced supplies and the existing hot water arrangement must be considered. Surface connections and concealed valves also have different access needs. Avoid buying a replacement solely because the external controls look similar.
Scope and access
A plumbing repair might involve a cartridge, connection or suitable replacement fitting. Concealed leaks can require investigation and access to the surrounding area. Agree who is responsible for tiles, panels, sealant and making good before work begins; a repair enquiry is not a full bathroom refurbishment quotation.
Electric showers
An electric shower combines water and electrical systems. Electrical installation or testing must be performed by someone appropriately competent and is not assumed to be included in a plumbing appointment. Confirm exactly which parts of the work can be undertaken before arranging a visit.
