A weak stream at a tap is often described as low pressure, but flow and pressure are different measurements. The useful starting point is identifying which outlets are affected and whether the change is new.
Compare the pattern
Note whether hot and cold are affected equally, whether one fitting performs differently and whether flow changes when another outlet is used. Explain the hot water arrangement if known: combi boiler, stored hot water or another system. Do not adjust pressure-control equipment to test a theory.
One outlet behaves differently
The fitting or its local supply may need checking. A replacement tap or shower can also be unsuitable for the available supply. Tell the plumber about recent changes and provide model details where possible. Do not assume the whole property needs a pump because one outlet is disappointing.
The whole property has changed
An interruption or change in the incoming supply may need investigation by the water supplier. Check for publicly reported local issues and ask neighbours only if practical. Internal valve position, restrictions and the building’s arrangement may also need assessment.
Planning an improvement
Any proposed booster, new pipework or different appliance needs to be suitable and compliant. A survey should establish the existing supply performance and demand before equipment is selected. Explain the result you want, such as using two outlets together, so the recommendation responds to actual use.
