A dripping tap, stiff handle or leaking base may be repairable, depending on the fitting and availability of parts. A replacement should suit both the basin or sink and the water supply.
Identifying the fitting
Send a photograph of the whole tap and any visible brand marking. Describe whether the problem is at the spout, handle, base or connection below. Cartridge and seal designs vary, so identifying the product can help avoid ordering an unsuitable part.
When replacement makes sense
Damage, corrosion or unavailable components may make replacement more practical. Hole spacing, reach, mounting arrangements and the available space underneath all matter. Check whether the proposed tap is suitable for the hot and cold supply pressures before purchasing it.
What affects the work?
Access behind a basin or beneath a sink can influence the installation. Existing isolation valves and flexible connections may also need assessment. Let us know if cupboards, boxing-in or a pedestal restrict access, and agree any associated alterations in the quotation.
Can a new tap improve low pressure?
A different tap cannot solve every supply issue. Some fittings need a higher minimum pressure than the system provides. If flow has recently deteriorated, report whether both hot and cold are affected and whether other outlets behave the same way. Establishing the cause is preferable to replacing a tap on appearance alone.
