First establish what has stopped working. No heating, no hot water and losing both together are different patterns, and the hot water system may be separate from the boiler controls you use for the radiators.
Describe each part separately
Check normal user displays and note whether the boiler shows a fault message. Explain whether hot taps run cold or do not flow, and whether all radiators are affected. With a cylinder, say whether stored water was initially hot and then ran out. These observations narrow the questions without proving a diagnosis.
Use only normal user controls
Review schedules and thermostat settings using the user manual. If the instructions permit replacing batteries in a user-accessible thermostat, follow those instructions. Do not open wired controls, remove boiler covers or try to bypass an interlock. Avoid repeated resetting when the fault returns.
Heating works but hot water does not
The investigation depends on whether the home has a combi or stored hot water. Controls, demand detection and other components may need testing. An online explanation cannot safely establish which part needs replacing. Give the model and system arrangement when requesting help.
Arranging assistance
Call to discuss availability and explain any household circumstances that make the loss especially difficult. An enquiry form is not an emergency dispatch service. For a suspected gas leak, call 0800 111 999 immediately and follow the operator’s instructions.
